I settled into a perfect seat with no one around me. Since it was a private media screening, no more than a dozen people were expected, so everyone could have their own “perfect” seats with no one around to annoy them.Just before the theater darkened, a young Japanese journalist walked in, surveyed the room and then plopped herself in the seat to my left. I am nothing if not rude, and I looked at her incredulously. I did not try to hide my bewilderment at why she had chosen that seat. But my rudeness went unnoticed.Finally, I simply stared straight ahead and said nothing.

Moving to another seat would only be an admission that she had beaten me.
